It’s home to a significant number of famous celebrities and there are many actors who live in New York City as well as a host of music superstars. There’s no denying that New York is a sought after place to live with its famous icons, bars, nightclubs and hotels, and celebrities and musicians are lining up for their piece of the action. Here are some of the celebrities that call New York City home:
Cameron Diaz: This well-known actress lives in Chelsea with her musically famous husband Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte. She began her career in modeling before taking her first acting role with Jim Carey in the Mask. With a long list of award winning movies under her belt, she is sure to be on the movie scene for many years to come.
Harrison Ford: Harrison Ford is one of Hollywood’s leading men, with an acting career that has spanned nearly 40 years and has included some iconic roles such as Indiana Jones and Han Solo. Living in Chelsea with his current wife Calista Flockhart, he is currently working on an acting project for the latest Star Wars installment, Episode VII.
Kate Winslet: Oscar winner Kate Winslet has starred in a number of acclaimed dramas and comedies and first came to fame in the smash hit movie, Titanic. Kate currently lives in Chelsea, New York City and is married to Ned Rocknroll who is the nephew of business magnate, Richard Branson. Her most recent movies have been Carnage and Movie 43 and will star in the movie, Labor Day.
Kelsey Grammer: As an actor, director, writer and producer, Kelsey Grammer is best known for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in the sitcom Cheers and its subsequent sitcom, Frasier. Kelsey currently lives in Chelsea. After four failed marriages, he is now married to flight attendant Kayte Walsh and has six children across all of his relationships.
Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban: Academy Award–winning actress Nicole Kidman starred in Dead Calm, Moulin Rouge and The Hours, and is one of Australia’s most loved actresses. Her most recent films include The Paperboy and Hemingway & Gellhorn. She is currently married to country music star Keith Urban and they live in Chelsea. Keith Urban who is a country music singer, songwriter and guitarist was named the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year in 2006.
Cher: Famous for her bizarre outfits and her musical talent, Cher is a singer and actress who got her name as half of Sonny and Cher in the 1960s. After marrying and subsequently divorcing her music partner Sonny Bono, she went on to forge a solid music career and also an acting career with movies such as Silkwood and Moonstruck. She currently resides in the East Village.
Leonardo DiCaprio: Leonardo DiCaprio has starred in such films as Titanic, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Inception and Django Unchained. He began acting as a child and appeared in TV shows such as Roseanne and Growing Pains. His most recent film was Wolf of Wall Street where he starred with Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey.
